Boats crossing Biscayne Bay in front of downtown Miami in the late afternoon

Run the water.

Nava is private, on-demand boat rides across Miami. Independent captains run the trips: bring your own boat, or get matched with an owner who needs a captain.

USCG license required. Already applied? The captain portal is at /captains/portal.

Three steps to your first trip.

  1. 01

    Apply with your license

Your name, your number, your USCG license. We review every captain before a first trip. Upload the license and a photo ID in the captain portal or in the Nava Captain app.

  2. 02

    Your boat, or an owner's

Own a boat? Add it and keep the boat's share of every fare. No boat? Owners on Nava invite captains and set the split with you before you run a trip.

  3. 03

Go online when you want to work

Requests come to the app when you are online. Accept the ones you want, pick up at the dock, drop off at the dock, get paid for each trip.

Independent, by design

No uniform. No fleet. Your name on the trip.

If it is your boat

Add it in the Nava Fleet app with its registration, insurance and photos. A person reviews it. Then captain it yourself and keep the boat’s share of every fare.

If it is an owner’s boat

Owners invite captains by phone number and agree the split with you before the boat goes live. You accept in the app; nothing is signed on a dock.

Questions, answered.

Which license do I need?

A current USCG license for carrying passengers for hire. We confirm the license type and expiration date during review, and a license that has lapsed cannot go online.

Do I need my own boat?

No. Boat owners on Nava invite captains and agree on a split with them before any trip. If you do own a boat, add it and captain it yourself.

How do I get paid?

Per trip, through the payout account you set up in the Nava Captain app. Riders pay in the app; nothing changes hands on the dock.

What insurance do I need?

You carry your own insurance, the way drivers do on rideshare apps, and the boat needs an insurance certificate on file before its first trip. The captain agreement you sign during onboarding sets out what you carry.

When does this start?

Nava is launching in Miami. Captains who apply now are reviewed first and are the first to run trips.
