The ride
Pull away from the Miami Beach docks and Biscayne Bay opens straight toward the Brickell skyline. There's no causeway to merge onto and no bridge traffic to wait out — the route runs twelve minutes of open water while the MacArthur backs up behind you.
The Brickell end
Brickell is Miami's financial district stacked on the waterfront: rooftop dinners, La Mar at the Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key, and a nightlife strip that doesn't slow down on weekdays. Step off at the dock and you're already in the middle of it.
When it matters
At 5pm on a weekday the drive stretches past 35 minutes before you've cleared the causeway. On the water, rush hour doesn't exist — the twelve minutes are the same at 8am, 6pm, or midnight.
